Hi I just bought a Used Kashan 10x13 and would like some info on it. It is my first Handmade and I am still learning. It has two tags one that says Kashan but it's a dealer tag and the other is just numbers. There is a words in green red and white, I'm assuming it's a signature. I would like to know if it is indeed a Kashan and what would it be valued at. I bought for 550 and got a cleaning estimate by phone for 495 and if it is of value I will surely pay to the cleaning.

Sounds like a really good deal on the rug . Def $d at a discount. Where did you purchase? As for cleaning, ask them their process - is there a way for them to see it in person to talk to you about I first?

The signature says "Kashan Ghotbi". He is certainly one of the better contemporary weavers in Kashan. I dont think you would get it any cheaper than $4000 in a shop if it is in good condition. I dont know what cleaning prices are like in US but for UK it would sound a bit on the high side. But as Rugpro says asks them what they are going to do and make sure it is reputable specialised handmade rug cleaning company as opposed to a carpet and upholstery one.

I bought it on Craig's list, I was curious because the price and size and checked it out and l was handmade.
His ad probably only lasted 4 days online. I will be taking the rug in for appraisal Monday to a shop that also does cleanings and I will ask them. Thank you so much for the help!

Traditional Persian Kashan rug at a very good price but the estimate for cleaning seems to be a bit high.

In the US typical dusting, tank soak, power wash and finishing is around $2.50 / sq.ft. done most entirely by hand in a cash-and-carry type of plant facility. Prices can go up to $6.- or more depending on the extent of what is done, etc., but truthfully $2.50 is the average. So - for a rug 10x13, quote price for drop off at plant on average would be $325.- and I don't believe cleaning is subject to tax but I may be mistaken

How's this 500 for ship and clean with Teflon protector, I believe the owner mention it's insured. http://www.rugspa.com/ is hand clean or machines used in the video better for rugs?
