My husband and I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago for @ $100.
It is a dark rug and we almost didn't get it. I took a photo with my phone/ camera and it revealed all these wonderful colors. I think it is a Yacub Khani, panel rug from Afghanistan, but not an Irani Timuri rug because of the colors-- I am learning!!!! Let me know what you think. I think this is a 19th century Belouch tribal rug. It is approximately 4 ft + by 3 ft+. Let me know if I am right or wrong. Thanks!!!

You seem to know your rugs very well. The design is certainly Yacoub Khani. But the weave and colours certainly are not nor is the size because as you know they are usually 6x4 or 7x5 feet. The colours and certainly Afghan and the weave and wool appear to be so. Looking at the fringes and the colours I think it is not older than Circa 1940

Well if I am right and it is an Afgan then the auction value is about $60 to $100. But it is one of the better ones that I have seen.

I wonder if you got it from the same place. It is another Afghan Baluch which unfortunately needs a bit of work done to it before it become worth anything.

Yes. It was in the same booth. We did not buy it. It is for sale for $50. With its damage , I was afraid to buy it.
Thanks so much. Rugrag forum saved us from making a poor purchase.

Hello Sharafi, Thanks for all yopur feedback. Sorry to bring up the Yacub Khani again, ut I remeasured it and my original meaurements were wrong. I said it was 4 by 3 feet before, but I was way off on the length. It is nearly 6 feet (5'11)n by 40". Does this change your original assessment of this rug. You had indicated that it would be $50 -$100 at auction and was an Aghani with a Yacub Khani design.. I've attached pics again.

It is still the same rug but slightly bigger. Don't forget we are talking about auction prices which can vary a lot depending if there are two people wanting the same thing or nobody wanting it the price difference can be from $100 to $300 for your piece in my opinion. But if I was valuing it for an auction with the size you have given I would do it for $100 to 150.

Thanks again. It just goes to show what a newbie thinks and how much I have to learn.
