We have had these old rugs for awhile. We rescued one from the cement floor of a flea market-- paid $15 for it more than 15 years ago--I think it is a Shirvan--camel hair with some errant blue-- #1. The other is a Bergamo I think, that used to be in better shape-- I had it on the floor and it was vacuumed by our house cleaners before I realized I should pick it off the floor-- #2. I will probably use these on tables or on window seats. It's hard to part with these rugs even though they are in such bad shape since they represent a lot of age and culture. I have a newer Prayer rug, #3, which I bought at a resale/ antique shop. After I bought it, I wish I had not. It had already been set up on a rug hanger and has never been walked on. This one I will be putting up on Craigslist to sale. Can you verify that this is just a decorative rug and not a collectible one?

All these rugs have value. The rug you call turkish I believe may actually be a turkmen weave which is off to the the eastern side of Iran as opposed to the west. Try to get what you can on this and the others if you sell. The one you call bergamo with medallions should be worth a few hundred at a minimum, the rug with browns and repeating design could be sold for up to $500 by private party.

Between the forum and the internet, I am learning so much about rugs. Thank you so much for the feedback on the Kerman. Based on this, we will keep this one and not sell it. Do you know its approx. value? Can you tell me how old the Turkmen is? -- we plan on selling this one and want to know its approximate age. Thanks RugPro!!!

The Turkmen does not look more than 40 years old. It looks early 1980's to me. How long have you had it for?

As for the Kerman, the values fluctuate for multiple reasons, especially based on value goals. You should have this one seen in person for replacement value if that is a goal.

Just bought it 3 months ago and paid $300 for it. Was this about the right price?

Thanks!

I am not sure if you are talking about the turkmen or the kerman. If the turkmen, I cant really make out the whole rug. is there a photo of it fully opened?

Thanks so much again.

I think you did fine on price. I do think 1980's up to perhaps even a few years ago is possible but not probable - more likely on the earlier side IMO
