Hello all, so nice to be here!

I recently acquired a rug that I would love some input on.
($50 at a local thrift store)
In the photos, it looks rectangular, but it is almost square, 5'11" x 6'1" approximately.

A gentleman on etsy said it looked not very old and of a Caucasian design, perhaps Afghan or Pakistani.

If anyone has anymore insight, I'd be much obliged.
Thank you all for your time and any help.

Nicole

Very good deal on this caucasian kazak. They really started making this type in the mid to late 1990s. This is one of the earlier made of its' type - the grey fringe and alternating color barber selvage wrapped on multiple warps. The older ones often have more unique patterns and designs, the wool tended to be a bit more "glossy". The newer ones have applied selvages and very short white cotton fringe and it's easier to find pairs of them now than it was back then.

Thank you, RugPro!
I'm more than thrilled with my find, who knew you could find such a deal at a Habitat for Humanity thrift store.
The photos don't really show the subtle sheen the rug has when the light falls on it.
The rug is in such excellent shape, too.

Again, thank you all for your time!
Its definitely piqued my interest to learn more about these rugs.

I would be scared to death to wash it!
That is something I will have to read up on, for sure.
