I have an antique chinese carpet approx 10x12. My cleaning estimate was almost 500 dollars. Is this a reasonable estimate?

I am not too sure what cleaning prices are like in the US but it does not sound unreasonable, but only if the work is good. Make sure it is a reputable dealer otherwise anybody can wash a rug but not everybody can wash a rug properly and not damage it.

Depending on the extent of cleaning, prices typically are $2.50- per square foot up to $6.- for specialty washes. If you get a quote for under $2.50 I don't think most people would be happy with the results. Keep in mind this is for PLANT washes, not in home cleaning
