Hi everyone,

I posted a couple of days ago regarding four Kashmir rugs which I found in Delhi. I have re-posting here again along with two new rugs which I found. They are all silk on silk, 4x6, purportedly hand-knotted, made in Kashmir, with around ~700-900 knot count. Since I am an absolute rug newbie, I have a few naive questions:

1. Do they look like what they claim to be?
2. What kind of design are they? (We like the general designs, but cannot articulate the genres.)
3. What would be a fair price to pay for these rugs?

Thank you very much for any advice you may offer!

Hi
Looking at them 2 of them are not silk they look like cotton to me
the rugs are just copy's of old designs
I am not a big fan of Indian rugs they have little investment value although some are well made

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the quick response. Which two are you referring to? How could you tell the difference? Since the six rugs are from three different shops, it would be nice to know which shops are selling fake!

Thanks,
S.C.

Very interesting because they are from a shop called Carpet Seller which got a lot of good reviews:

They claimed that they provided carpets to all US embassies and even Barack Obama shopped there! Thanks for your help!

It's hard to tell if the ones with your hands in them are wool or silk (or art silk) pile but they definitely look like cotton foundations. I'd be very surprised if all of the rugs weren't cotton foundations if they are Kashmiri. Some nice designs though.
