Hiya - first post on Rug Rag Forum!

Just looking for some input/info on a rug I bought. . . approximate age, country of origin, etc. TIA for any replies.

I recently moved into a place with W/W carpeting (help!) and very much needed a rug to break up the monotonous expanse, delineate a living room area, and generally warm up the space. I'm not a collector (except in my dreams) and only moderately picky - I wanted an attractive 8x10 or 7x9 wool rug with warm red as the predominant color. Old or new, didn't matter, but my budget was practically nothing. Basically, I was going to have to stumble upon a real bargain.

So, I found this 'not new' one and it works out just fine, for now. I like the look of old rugs with very worn down pile, so I use it face down. The solid red field is sooo strong - the reverse side fits the setting and lighting better.

Measures approximately 9'9" x 6'4". Carnelian red and turquoise-y blue with some grass green here and there. I attempted to count the KSPI and I think it's around 80.

Hope these pics help and that I'm including them correctly. . . I still need to do selvage and pile images.

The back of this piece and the knot work looks a lot like the one I posted recently (she's asking $250), which turned out to be Indian made. I am curious to see what the experts say about yours.
