Thanks for your response. It must be low end machine made, there are several flaws. Oh well, it will be durable enough to put in front of the back door.

Looks like a very fine hand made Persian Baluch kelim to me. But it would have been easier if there were more photos especially of the whole thing.

Preferrabley of the whole piece, as with the small photo that you have posted one can only guess, especially as it is a flatweave as well and it appears to be a sumak weave. It is always useful to see the whole of the design.

It is from north africa. Made in Tunesia / Kayrouan area. The quality is called Mergoum 25/25. new wool on cotton. Techinc is like soumak.

We acquired a low quality version of this in a runner... was that horrible that we dyed it bright purple/pink as an experiment.
