Hello, i would like to find out a little more about this rug i have bought. It has some interesting symbols. From looking online i have only really correctly identified one symbol as hands on hips, leading me to believe this is a fertility rug of some sort? I think it lends itself to a Turkmen rug but i may be wrong. Any help would be greatly received.

This carpet appears to be newer as Nick stated. It is also considered a flat woven carpet, more specifically, a Soumac weave (has a similar appearance of crochet on the face, knots on the reverse). This carpet is newer and likely made in Afghanistan. For details on design analysis, I suggest Peter Stone's book for Tribal and Village design identification. Here is the recommended list:
