Hello - just found this forum and would be grateful for some advice
This rug measures about 4m x 3m (roughly 9'10" x 13') and is extremely heavy - all wool
I have no idea what it is - it is of some age
My best guess is Bakhtiari style - but although I am reasonably familiar with Persian and oriental rugs I really don't have a clue about this one
many thanks

You photos are a bit small and difficult to tell but from the one of the back I would say it is a Tabriz. they do this kind of design in other regions too

Thank you - I had to make the pictures smaller to get them to load to the site. If I send you a couple of better ones, would you be able to tell me any more? I would be interested to know what kind of age it is. I bought it at a rug sale in Wales about ten years ago to fill a room and didn't pay much for it (fitted carpet would have cost more!)
I do have a couple of traditional (but relatively new) Tabriz in the "fish" pattern so this is interesting
Many thanks

If you send them to me I will try and tell you more if I can. At last somebody with common sense that can see I how much cheaper and better handmade rugs are compared to machine made. Hopefully it will be worth some money so instead of losing money on it you have made some
