NAIN Rug genuine bargian?

Hey Guys

i am a newbie to persian rugs,

i like the look of one i have seen on ebay, please can someone let me know if its actually work 1K?

and if its genuiene NAIN hand knotted? i dont know really what to look for

I noticed that it has sold, apparently. But I dont believe it is a real Nain but a Tabas. However, not a bad one, still hand woven. and I dont think it is real silk that is used in it. The price to buy from a shop is good but from ebay I would have wanted it to be lower. But if you have bought it then its not a bad price..

Thanks for your reply, i did buy it, the buyer said it would cost like £3000 if it were in a showroom.

what is the difference between a Nain and Tabas? is the Tabas cheaper quality?

bit annoyed he said it was 100% a nain carpet, can you let me know how you can tell its not a nain?

It looks like a Tabas to me and Tabas is about 2000km away from Nain so in that sense it is not the same thing. A real Fine Nain in 300x200cm cost more than £3000 in a shop. Having said that you seem to have got a nice carpet at a good price the only thing is that it is not a Nain.

thanks for your reply

i got it cheaper than quoted as he buy it now, how much would this have cost from a showroom or dealer? as i bought direct from a wholesaler thus the price.

i recieved the carpet, the original pictures show it very bright, but looking at it the colours seems much more dull, dunno maybe it was the light in the room.

but if anyone could help me estimates its value that would be great

From a shop if the size is correct anything from £1500 to £2000.

Hi .Im new here as well.
That rug is what is considered a Nain 9…
The 9 refers in some way to the grade. Nain Carpets in that grade are not considered "fine".
The 9 grade carpets range from about 220 knots per sq inch up to really good ones, of under 300 knots per sq inch.
In the same 9 category can be a very beautiful stunner but most are average,
The one you've bought is an average one at a decent price.
My brother in law has an average Nain 9, 10 X 15 bought when prices were down…and I have in same size, an exceptional example,bought when prices were up
which cost 3 times his. I wish it was less but is worth the difference.

A "fine" Nain is a Nain 6…400-600 knots per sq inch…or a Nain 4 which edges past that.
The coloration of Nain is distictly cool with very few colors in general.

From looking at the pictures it is for sure not a Nain -it is Tabbas and also no 9 la. Cheapest Tabbas quality on the market, but if you didn't pay more than 1000.00 it is ok - it is still handknotted.
