Hello,

I bought a rug few days ago!
The Privateseller told me, that his parents bought it few years ago for 6000€! And it was used for few months ( I trust him, it's look and smell like a new one :D )
I had 6 months ago a Bidjar Zandjan with normal wool and as a person with few knowledge about Rugs, I can see and say that there's a big different between both!
What I want to know is, and I hope the experts can understand and help me, is the rug with kurkwool or maybe with silk and how much is it worth?

Size of the rug: 3,90m x 2,96m

It is almost impossible to say from a photo if a rug is woven with Kurkwool. It is certainly a well woven piece with good colours and clear outlines. If the wool feels velvety to touch then it most probably is kurkwool. I could not really see any silk. Personally I doubt it has silk, as it appears to me that it is a Zanjan baft Bijar. However, again one needs to see and feel it. One obvious difference between Zandjan Bijar and Takab Bijar is density. If it is not that heavy then it is definitely a Zandjan Bijar. In any event the retail price for it is around the $6000 mark. The retail price of a normal new one is about $400-$600 a square meter.

Thank you Sharafi!
Tha Zandjan I had was not so fine and "perfect" like this one. When I put my hand on it (the Zandjan) and moved on it, the wool feels like mountains. But by this one, everywhere the wool has the same hight and it's softer and has a nice gloss. I bought a second smaller Bidjar from him :D that I will present next week. The other one is more rigid and is not so easy to crinkle like this one (sorry for the bad english)! Maybe it's a Zandjan!
What about the others and Karl Heinz, in the past I presented a rug an he knew immediately that it was a Zandjan!!!
As a german dealer, maybe you can get out more informations about it with the number of it (see pics).
Many thanks to the forum and all the experts, you're a big help...

Please keep in mind that there a quite a lot of weaves that come under the Bijar Banner, like Gholtogh, Garous but I suppose it depends what the dealer decided to call it. This design of Bijar, which is known as Afshar Bijar was always woven in Takab. The weave in Takab is very dense and the closer image that you have posted, while the weave looks very fine it does not appear to me to be very dense. The only way I can explain this to you is for you to to lift a corner of a Bijar that is woven in Zandjan and this one and compare. Zandjan does do other weaves other than what is called Bijar. Dont forget that the what ticket says is not incorrect. This you can quite legitimately call Bijar but it is whether it was woven in Zandjan or not.

I hope this helps

Bijar but I wouldn't say it is kork wool or silk.

I've got a Bijar here, the wool is a lot smoother and softer looking:

Your rug is a really nice piece and would have a high retail price, the wool does look like it has a good sheen to it but would have thought it would be plusher looking if Kork.

Thanks Little-Persia.
I think too it's "normal" wool, but much better quality than the Zandjan I had (see new Pics).
What do you think, how much should I require for it?
How much would a dealer give for such a rug in this great condition?
