Help With Identifying this rug, and if possible, potential resale value?

I bought this rug at a consignment shop - it's about 21ft x 11. It's wool, and I believe of Persian origin. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately your photos are not that great. However, they are good enough to determine the origin which is Kirman South of Iran. However, I cannot really work out what the patch is. Is it a repair or patched up or rotten and it is to keep the carpet together.

It doesn't appear to be a repair patch, and there is nothing rotten on the rug (but I do not have a trained eye). I will try to get higher resolution pictures and repost. I found this in a pile of rugs in a consignment shop and paid only $300. The consignment shop had no idea how big the rug was until we picked it up and had it cleaned. The rug cleaner indicated that this was a rug we needed to get appraised. It is wool (and a pretty thick pile). The pile is a little uneven. Are there any other types of pictures/information that I should get you?

It is a fairly standard piece from the area so only images of any damage areas. I am mainly worried about the patch,as there must have been a reason for them to put that there. Also is it glued or sewn on.

It appears to be glued. I will take any pictures of other damage (although I don't think there is any other substantive damage).

Higher resolution pictures forthcoming, but I did notice that the rug had a tag - not sure if this helps.

That is just a number they would have put on the carpet in Iran for identification when they bought it and nobody bothered to take it off. You have certainly bought a bargain I am just trying to establish how big a bargain. At worst that patch I would guess and only a guess will cost you between $1000-1500 to fix. However, I wouldnt have thought that it is that bad.

I wouldn`t have it fixed. Usually patches like this are used if the foundation is rotten. By stabilazing the material with glue and a piece of fabric the rug will last. It is not a professional repair but alt least it is not expensive. To have it repaired the damaged area Needs to be cut out of the rug and new warp, weft and pile have to be added. Enjoy it as it is.

I certainly wouldn't disagree with KAD. If from the front it is not too bad and doesn't bother you then live with it and enjoy it
