I received this rug as a gift from a friend living in Europe. He said it is old and it was hung on the wall most of age. It is in good condition with lustrous wool and feels soft to touch.

it is aprox. 2 meter by 1.5 meter (6.6 ft by 5 ft).

Very very nice rug! Could be a Kashan or more likely a Ghaswin (Ghaswin made Kashan designs also). Condition seems to be very good, fringes seem to be secured and hanging rings are still on it. Market for antique floral designed rugs is not very good the last few years but if it is as good in real as it is on the Pictures I would estimate it retail USD 3500 - USD 4000.
I would say it was made between 1930 and 1940. Your fried made you a nice present!

Wish I had friends like yours! Really nice rug and does look from the image to be older good quality Kashan weave/texture.

Does your friend have any more rugs he/she is giving away? [-o<

Thank you KAD and I appreciate your expert opinion very much, and I 'd like to know what is the reason to make you put it more likely to be Ghaswin rather than Kashan (how do they differ).
