My runner is 954 cm almost 32 feet by 72 cm. I purchased it over 20 years ago online and have since lost the indentification information. Can you tell me which tribe or region this rug is from and as estimate of current value. I was told it was from the 1930s when I originally purchased it

Your rug was nearly new when you purchased it.

It is a Persian Tasbad from WW2....very nice...if it is really 32 feet long and in mint condition then the appraised value would be approx $4000. At 32 feet it would be the longest by far Tasbad i have seen in 38 years in this business.

Thank you very much for your input. I have been told by two others that the rug is either a Rudbar or a Kolyai/Koliai. Is the Tasbad from the same Hamedan region? The rug is in excellent conditionas you can tell from the pictures, in fact one dealer from Germany thought it was likely almost new when I bought it, he also thought is was a Rudbar rug, and it is actually 954 cm by 72 cm in size. the only issue with the rug is that on one end it is without fringe bound as it is along the sides.

I have attached a new picture of the weave, would this help you identify it?

Tasbad is an old term for the hamadan region.... there are many types of hamadans.... there has been many names used for the same basic type of hamadan over the decades... tasbad I'm learning is rarely used anymore... when i began in the business in 1975 "tasbad" was commonly used... but not anymore...

Follow this link to see another Rudbar.

Typical color combination and just a little different design. Look at the knot structure. Anyone who knows rugs can tell that this rug and your rug come from the same production.

Lesniak Oriental Rugs: Tasbad from WW2? How long are you in this business? Since 1975? Get yourself a few good books about persian rugs. Or better go to Iran learn the basics.

KAD, Based on 38 years in this business I am giving my opinion that this rug is a Tasbad (also spelled Tajabad). It is about 30 minutes from the Hamedan province. The motifs and overall design is how I am basing this opinion. You are entitled to your own opinion of course but the rudeness is not necessary.. I am sorry if that is how you treat your peers in this business. And I am even more sorry for the customer.
