An interesting point, but I don't necessarily agree as many factors have to be considered in this.
Reweaving signatures after completion is a simple and inexpensive process in rug weaving countries. The art in a convincingly good quality carpet is to start from the ground up and reverse engineer the entire piece - the wool, the dyes, the lah, quality, weave, not just the finishing touch. Especially for rugs so technically detailed as a Nain or Isfahan for example. If this were a Habibian Nain, it has to have all characteristics of the quality standards, not just the badges of a Bentley put on a Hyundai.
Does this rug have color run of the maroon?
