I bought this rug for its color. The previous owner told me it is a Tabatabai Tabriz rug. It looks too old to be a Tabatabai family, plus the design and fringe... Maybe Indo-Heriz? Could you help to authenticate it? Thank you!

It is a persian Tabriz, probably about 20 - 25 raj. Probably made in the 1960`s or 1970`s. It is strongly worn and was reduced in length and width, the outer borders are missing. Not from Tabatabai workshop.

Thank you for your response. I knew it was not a high quality rug but did not notice the absence of outer borders(ooops) As I have mentioned before I bought it for its color. Is it worth repairing worn areas? This rug is special for me and I don't want to lose it. Thank you.

The cost of repair would be in a dimension that I can`t tell exactly from the pictures - but thousands $ for sure. It is worth 200 - 300 $ in its actual condition. If you would like to have it rewoven I guess at least 3000 - 4000 $ if done in Turkey or Iran, at least tripe that if made in USA.
