I was given this rug by an elderly family friend, I say on the label "Real Fabrica de Tapices, Madrid". translates to "Royal Tapestry Company", has an older telephone number style. It measures approx 11' by 14'. And is quite heavy. Other then that I cannot find any information about this rug on the internet. The local fine rug dealer knew nothing about it either. So any info I can get at all and an approximate value would be very helpful. thanks

I got an email confirmation from the Real Fabrica de Tapices regarding this rug:

Dear Mr--------:

About your rug, I can confirm you that is a product manufactured at the Real
Fábrica de Tapices. It's handmade and have been woven with turkish knot. The
design is inspired on motifs of Spanish rugs of 16th century. I think that
the rug could be woven about the middle of 20th century.

Does anyone here know of a value for this rug?

There is no real market for these rugs - once since there was only a small production and hardly anyone knows these rugs and second the quality is not very fine so most buyers are looking for something with more shine and higher kpsi. If the rug is in good condition I would say a few hundret $ like for any other old used rug. Do you want to sell the rug?

I have seen other finer rugs made by Fabrica de Tapices go for tens of thousands of $$. but they have higher kpsi, colors, etc. Is my rug a low quality mass produced rug? I definitely have to sell it, it bigger then any room I have, and is currently rolled up in the living room taking up a lot of space.

Higher prices only for finer older rugs.

If you let me know the weight and price I might be interested.

I was hoping for at least $1000 USD for this rug, as for weight I would guess that is weighs at least 100 pounds.

I would have to consider your offer compared to local offers as shipping the item would require quite a bit of physical effort and transporting the rug to large city to for shipment.

After inspecting the rug more closely, I noticed the date and initials on the border and have uploaded a photo. Would this information increase the value?

I think it tells the design and year of making. It is not old enough for higher prices since most buyers are looking for older rugs.
