I came accross this Sarouk from the 1940s at a consignment shop. It caught my attention but I'm not sure if the $245 price was legit considering it had very low loom on one of the borkers (loom completely exposed on one side of the blue border) and that I saw at least 3 places where it was repaired (I see a stick of white thread from the front). But over all it looks fine.

I read up on the "american painted sarouks". Would this be one of them? Or is this a moharejan sarouk? Also just wanted to note that the borders are intact, but the blue band on the bottom (not pictured) was very low on pile - basically just loom. Thank you!

It was inspired by 1920`s Sarouk rugs, but it was made in the Merawan area or Hamadan area in Iran. It is about 60 - 70 years old and the price is ok.

Definitely looks like Hamedan knotting. Yes it has low pile but for $245 at that size for a handmade piece you can't really expect any less.
