I purchased this rug at an auction in Germany about 10 years ago. I would like to know an approximate value.

Hi Katarina,

Thanks for the post, giving an approximate value to this piece would require a little more detail if possible. The size is key with this piece as looking at it, it appears to be North East Iran, within the Meshed, Birjand family of weavings. The open ground design is seen within Kirman weavings central South Iran but the corner elements and borders, plus the colours added to the securing stitch on the fringes, suggest the Khorasan region.

As a rough stab in the dark I would say
Origin: Birjand,
Circa: late 20th century,
Size: 10x7 feet,
Probate Value: £400-600
