I am thinking of buying this rug for myself.

The seller says it's a persian silk rug at least 100 y.o.

Can you tell me if this is true and what would be the good price to buy this for?

I'm also interested what kind of Persian rug is that? Kashan? What do you think about the dyes...

Thanks in advance for all valuable comments.

Please post pictures of knots, selvedge and fringes (back of rug). From the pictures posted it looks like a paited kashmir silk rug from the 1980`s.

Thanks. I will. But from the looks of red it seems cochineal. I have never seen any natural dyes in Kashmiri rugs. Are there any such Kashmirs?

Sorry, I didn`t explain exactly what I ment: I think this is a rug that was colored red after it was finished (for what ever reason). When you look at the picture No 2 in high resolution it seems some of the white knots got some color of red. First I thought it is a pink knot, but it looks like the color was changed after the rug was made. But this is only a thought from looking at these pictures. When I get better pictures / close ups from the knots, selvedge and fringe I am sure we can get closer to the rugs origin.

I do not think the rug was colored after finished. I think some may identify this as a persian kashan, but it does not come through the way a true kashan would in my opinion. I also don't think it is of terribly great age, post 1900 in my opinion newer. so it may be another rug weaving country such as iraq or something. despite the photographs being present, they're not super helpful as I don't see selvages.

The new pictures did help a lot. It is a turkish Kayseri rug, not Kashan from Iran. It was not colored as it looked like, the knots that looked colored are rose colered in original. It might be from 1960 - 70.
