I just found the forum and enjoying reading the information posted here. I just bought a house with hardwood floors throughout so I have been searching happily for rugs, although I am a relative newbie at this.

I came across this craigslist rug that is damaged - the owner is asking for an offer. I am assuming the rug is machine made from the look of the binding but I don't have enough confidence in my rug knowledge to be sure. Any thoughts on this rug? I am interested mostly because it is in a size I need - it's 10 x 15.

A 10x15 rug of any kind is going to cost you, just because of the square footage. If the rug isn't clean, I wouldn't buy it, because cleaning a rug that size will cost more than the value of the rug. If the rug is clean, it suits your needs, and you can hide the damage in an inconspicuous place, it could be worth it. Just don't spend more than a few of hundred bucks.
