I bought a rug in Herat, Afghanistan. The seller was a local Afghan merchant in Herat. The rug is claimed to be a Baluch old +- 20 years and weaved by hand in Herat. It is a thin carpet (+-7mm)and mostly a purple cover and made from Karakul (sheep) and camel hair. Approx 248 000 stiches/sqm. Can you give me an approx value please and confirm the info I gave is right?

Hello Steve C, $700. The seller is sure it is a Beluch with a persian design. I do not know and would like to get more information. On what grounds would you say it is not Beluch? If you need more photos I would be able to get it...just tell me exactly what you would like to see to make it easier. Many thanks.

Sorry for the late post. I have been in the process of moving to another country over the last couple of months. As I look at the design of the rug, it is not something typical of Balouch, but I suppose it could be a rug made in a workshop with Balouch people. Also, Balouch colors are typically much darker. The price is not outrageous for a nice rug of this size, but....
