Hello,

This is an old rug belonging to my grandmother. She recently was moved to the US and I was given the rug to keep. I know little to nothing about old rugs but I'm assuming this has been with my grandmother for at least 40 or so years? I was wondering if anyone could give me idea of the type, age, and maybe an estimate if possible? Thank you in advance.

Hello, I believe this is an Afghan Bokhara rug. Here is a quote from Randy Graham, who has a similar rug on his Picasa site https://picasaweb.google...LargeTribalVillageRugs. "This is the traditional Turkman design woven by the Esari or a related Turkish speaking tribal group of Northern Afghanistan."
Seeing it on his website is the only reason I venture to identify it - I am not an expert myself.
