Seller states it's a 4x6, 1930s antique sarouk, asking $750; is this anything of value???

It looks a bit like Sarouk, but I think it is an Agra from India. They made the same designs there like in the Sarouk area in Iran. Price is rather high for its condition. But if the pile is high and only the selvedge and fringes need to be fixed it might be worth a second view.

UPDATE - okay, got the rug, and the price came down considerably, but before I'll say what i paid, i would like to here the forum's thoughts...

I've attached some updated photos, and now my untrained eye is saying antique Kashan...it's just really decorative, finely woven and seems, to me at least, have the characteristics of a Kashan (at least i'm hoping). however, there is a noticeable area of wear that i tried to photo... Also, it's really dirty and needs a cleaning and repair around the boarders...

so, what does the forum think now???

KAD, thanks again. And of course you and the other experts would know best. That being said, what would be the value on something like this - does it warrant the cost of repairs, etc.?

...and to be honest, the seller ended up selling it to me for the cost of shipping, which was $50 dollars! yea, I guess the lady was not really looking to get anything from it since she got it from someone for nothing and was just hoping it was going to a good home,which I would like to think our home is :)

so, was this a good value???

The only thing I would recommend is getting it washed and let it get a new moth protection. This is the minimum everybody should do before bringing a used rug into the home. You never know how the rug was cared for and what bugs and insects might be brought home with the rug.
The selvedge of this rug seemes to be in bad condition and the fringes need some work. Some area of low pile is also visible. To have all this fixed it will take quite a lot of money. This only makes sence if you want to keep the rug. If you want to sell it, I am sure you will not get the cost of repair back.
I would wash it and have new moth protection done - this should be ok.
