I purchased a beautiful Afghan silk rug from a reputable dealer in Saudi Arabia in 1983 (I still have the receipt!). It has spent most of its life in storage so is in excellent condition and the fringe is intact. I have tried to do some research and think it's a Turkomen Yomud, 6 feet 4 inch x 4 feet 4 inch (approx), hand woven (has a small error in the border pattern which is reversed), silk on silk (tried the recommended burn test on the fringe and think it's silk).

I am thinking of selling it, but would very much appreciate further info about the rug and advice on what you think it's worth. I have photos but but am having problems attaching them - is there another way I can send/attach?

Many thanks....Shirley
