I find the colors of this Craigslist rug unusual; it's not often I see green. Does anyone have any thoughts about the use of this green in rugs? Do you know if this color also identifies a rug? With thanks for any insight. huruburu2 attached the following image(s):

Green is usually not used often in handmade rugs as main color. Some old dealers used to tell that green is the color of the prophet and so it should not be walked on. One might belive this is the reason or not. Sometimes you find green in Keshan, Tabriz or Yazd rugs as main color, in recent times also in Qum - but still not a usual color. The rug you posted is from India. Most of India is Hindu, not Muslim. I have seen a lot more green rugs from India than from other countries. So maybe the old story about the color of the prophet is true.
