I was referred here by the Ebay boards in hopes of information. This rug looks to be worn to black and white in the center but has color on the edges. Someone posted, "This is a machine made Wilton rug with Art Deco Design. Figure age is around 1920's or so." Any other thoughts? I hope this is the right place to post these. Pray Thank you in advance!

Size: 35" x 60 1/2" (excluding fringe)
Fringe: 2 3/4"

Wilton almost 100%. Not worth much at all in this condition. It's really possible there's some collector out there that sees this as a rare rug, and would be happy to call it a good buy at $25 bucks, maybe something more. You never know, but it might be worth the time to post time. Give it a try though. It should be called a machine made rug. I think this wilton is 1920s. wool pile. call it art deco

Thank you so very much RugPro! I greatly appreciate your advice and information. I will list this on Ebay and see if anyone is interested... and if not, I may just keep it. For some reason, even with the high amount of wear, I still find it pretty! :)

no problem, it is a pretty rug. I mean, you really don't find rugs with this kind of whimsical design made too much anymore, even if it is a machine made. Good luck on this one, I see you posted another elsewhere and will take a look there.

I don't think there is ever a reason NOT to put a rug up on eBay. If people just want to make a ton of money, well, on some cases they might not be able to. But if they just want to make some cash and recycle some rugs, it never hurts. I have bought a few trashed carpets for myself to use as decorative pieces and on furniture in my own home. Rugs I would never buy to sell as rugs, but that I could definitely make use of. I have also bought a couple of rugs I could never sell because they are too far gone, but I just happened to fall in love with them so I rescued them from the glue factory, so to speak. And there are a lot of decorators who recycle textiles into remade objects, and decorators looking for carpets for restaurants and clubs.

I don't disagree. Somebody could certainly come around and sweep up this rug for a pretty penny. The funny thing is, look at how resilient the black wool has been over the years. It's funny that the worn areas are all around, yet excluding (for the most part) black fiber...
