Hey folks,

I just bought two really nice rugs from a seller here in Iraq. I first saw these about a month ago, and haven't stopped thinking about them since, so when I saw them again the other day, I cracked and spent the money to get these. They're both silk on silk, around 700 kpsi (according to the seller, I haven't measured it myself), they're both supposedly from Qom, and have the signatures one would expect. To be brutally honest, I wasn't too worried about Qom authenticity. I haven't even measured the rugs. The large one is roughly 4.4 x 6.6ft, and the small one is roughly 2.4 by 4.2 ft. I loved the rugs, and spent a lot to get them. I'm here now asking how much these might be worth in the states.

I paid $10,500 for both of these. $8300 for the 4' x 6' and 2200 for the 2' x 4'. The dealer said the large one could fetch $14,000 in the states. I took that with a grain of salt, and haven't seen any rugs this size go for so much. The one thing I think these rugs have going for them is the colors. Since I first saw these, I've done a lot of internet searching on these Persian rugs, and haven't seen any with such a deep green color palate.

Unfortunately I don't think you'd pay much, if any, more for them in the States.

I don't know anything about rugs, but the ones you've posted are beautiful!

Thanks guys. I'm not too worried about them being worth more in the states, as long as I wasn't hellaciously ripped off, I'm happy.
