8x11, the seller says its Persian Tabriz 50 raj fish design 10-15 years old asking $4500 which he calls it dealer price. I was wondering what you guys think about the quality, color and price of it. Thank you.

Where are you located, what is the seller - a rug dealer or antiques dealer? private seller? Post better pictures of the back of the rug with a quarter please

if you want paid consultation you should go here: http://www.rugrag.com/Rug-Appraisal.aspx

Otherwise is the rug used? does it have stains or moth damage?

Very attractive rug. looks very well made regardless of origin. it is not a "dealer price" as that goes only to those who buy by the container load

Thank you RugPro. no moth bite no stain. I just want to know if this is a Persian Tabriz or not and what you guys think about the price.

This rug is a Persian Tabriz. Judging by the weave (it looks to be 50-line/50-raj to me) and size, $4500 is a good price. I have some concerns because one of the photos of the back looks to be much brighter than the photos of the front. It is possible that this is just an issue with the lighting, but if instead the rug is sun-faded, then the price is too high. When you see this rug, compare the coloring of the front to the back. If there is a noticeable difference, but you still like the rug, try and bargain another $1000-1500 off the $4500 price. Good luck!

Although these rugs are not exactly Persian Tabriz, they are bought and sold as Tabriz (made in Khoy, about 30 miles from Tabriz) and there is no problems with that as they use the same weaving style and New Zealand Kurk wool. Knot count is approximately 43-44 but they are known as 50 raj and no problems with that either. Foundation is cotton, pile is wool with a touch of silk highlights. Make sure the width of the border remains fairly the same all around the border and the medallion is centered with no more than a couple inches deviation. The price is fair, get the rug and enjoy it.
