Found this red hunting rug at an auction, paid $200. It is around 5' x 8' and has no damage to the fringe or selvedge. The only issue is that it had a large amount of sandy dust, and what appeared to be red wool fibers. Even after washing two times and vacuuming and then beating, there was still plenty of dust, sand, and wool fibers. I would say around 2 cups of debris. The knot count is around 100 kpsi and the pile is short to medium, but foundation is very thick and stiff. It has cotton warp/fringe and blue weft. I was wondering whether this was an Indian or Pakistani reproduction of a "Qom" hunting rug, and why is there so much dust coming out of it? Is the wool fiber being eaten away by the dye?. I know that these rugs were copied in Inida and Pakistan, and there is even a signature in Arabic which is at the top of the rug that I doubt is the signature of the weaver who made this.
