It was almost black when I bought it at a pawn shop for $35. The cashier told me that the owner of the shop bought it in Germany in 1970, and that she had used it under her desk since then. (Looked more like she had been changing her oil on it since 1970..lol) I took it to the carwash and hosed it down. I had no idea it would turn out like this! I did a burn test..it smelled like burning hair, so wool?

Is there anything anyone can tell me about it? Honestly don't care about value, just where you think it came from, how it was made. :)

You did a great job cleaning this rug! What you have is a machine-made rug, probably Belgian in origin. Used machine made rugs don't really have a resale value, but that being said, I think you got a great deal for something that is quite useful. You can't buy a bath towel for $35 these days!
