Can somebody tell me about this rug purchased at auction a few months ago? It is the first oriental rug that I ever purchased, and was drawn to the unique diamond design in the field, which I later found out was called a gul. Hence my username on this forum. Every rug expert has a different opinion as to the origin and design of the rug. One dealer in town called it a Pak Bokhara, while another called it a Shirvan. After reading a lot of books and looking at many pictures, my opinion was Yomut, because of the unique gul design with latch hooks. One guy I emailed said Turkmen produced this rug, which I assume means that it is a nomadic tribal rug. Any help would be appreciated.

I would say it is not a Yamut or from Turkmenistan. seems fairly new and made in a workshop. would guess Pakistan or India...
