Hi all,
I am new to this forum but would love to get some feedback on my 1st ever rug purchase!
So a little bit about me - I live in Kuwait and I decided this Xmas that instead of getting an IPad (nearly £700!) I would get a high quality Persian silk rug as ten years from now it will be something to remind me of my time in the Middle East – plus hopefully it will keep its value.
I’ve spend quite a bit of time going around the different souks, speaking with sellers and done quite a bit of research on what to look for – uniqueness of pattern, pliability of the rug, kpsi, colour, etc. Ultimately though my decision to buy this rug was made by the fact that I couldn’t take my eyes off it! I thought it was beautiful inside the shop but when I took it outside into the natural light the colours just blew me away.
So here are the details of the rug (as far as I am aware):
- Iranian made in Qum
- Weaved by Kazemi family (recently but do not know year)
- Knot count is 70 raj (or around 670 kpsi)
- Weft, warp & pile is 100% silk (and I can tell of excellent quality when compared with other carpets I looked at)
- 110 x 150 size
I spent around 2k GBP on this rug and on a personal note I think it is totally worth it, however I would love to know whether I got a good deal as I may buy another one if I did (they had another beautiful rug of similar quality & price). For the record I saw a few rugs last time I was back in the UK and they were being sold for much higher prices and appeared of lower quality when I tested the ‘feel’ and pliability.
I’d love to know how much you think this rug is worth if a) I was to sell it in the UK/US and b) if I was to buy it there.
