Hello, everyone!

Where do you think this one comes from? The style seems like a lower-end Nain, but the colors are more like a Kerman. Maybe it wasn't woven in Persia? Also, on the last image there appears to be a four-character date inscription, but it's stylized so I'm having trouble reading it. Any guesses?

Thanks for taking a look.

Megan

This appears to either be a pakistani or indo rug. Not Persian or Iranian

It is called Persian wool/silk, but it was made in Pakistan. Designs are taken from persian (Iranian) rugs, such as Kerman and Kashan. Not a bad rug, but also nothing of great value. If you have it washed, the silk will shine a lot more.

Thanks to both of you! The rest of the story is that a few days ago, despite a few documented wear spots and no contact with the e-bay seller, I bought it outright for $225 (including S&H). I've yet to receive the rug to see if the risk was worth it - I'll most certainly consider a professional cleaning once it arrives.
