This rug was given to me by a friend who said it was a hand woven afghanistan. I am trying to figure out if this information is correct and maybe what the value would be. It measures 8.5 feet x 13 feet. Thanks.

Your rug is an afghan Kilim. It is handwoven, it has no knotted pile.

Retail price is about 5 USD per squarefoot.

This is a maimana kilim from Afghanistan. KAD is right. This is not a rug this is a kilim. When you clean this (Maimana) kilim watch out you may have a color run problem.
